Cooking classes for Lifespan Local’s Alma Program

Proposal Overview:

Lifespan Local serves moms and their very young children through Alma, our maternal mental health program. We provide home visitation services, community gathering spaces and diaper/clothing distribution to support families as we cultivate a caring and supportive community. We want to add cooking classes to our menu of activities to further support moms as we gather, cook new and classic recipes together, learn about nutrition and healthy eating habits, and honor cultural traditions. We are seeking a bilingual  (Spanish/English) service provider who is experienced and trained in healthy eating and cooking to offer 2 cooking classes/month for our Alma program at the Alma location: 3831 Custer Place, Denver, 80219.

Goals:

  • Goal 1: Offer 2 bilingual (Spanish/English) cooking classes per month, over a 4 month period that honor culture and teach nutrition basics.

  • Goal 2: Conduct outreach to support a class size of 10-15 people per class.

  • Goal 3: Evaluate the benefits of the cooking classes for the participants.

Deliverables:

  1. Spreadsheet that captures number of participants and basic demographics

  2. Report that summarizes cooking activities and nutrition topics covered throughout the 8 classes

  3. Evaluation report that captures the experiences of the cooking class participants

Project Term:

February 1- May 31, 2026

Budget:

Not To Exceed $4,000.00; half paid at project start, remaining balance paid upon receipt of deliverables.
